
Biographies
Andy Teale - Director
Andy graduated from City University in 1988 with a second class honours degree. He is a part qualified actuary, but is no longer sitting the exams. He now has 15 years of experience of working in non-life insurance.
After Graduation Andy joined Bacon & Woodrow’s non-life actuarial team where he worked on a large variety of projects including reserving for Lloyd’s and London Market companies and personal lines reserving and had involvement with a number of mergers and acquisitions projects.
In 1996, he left B&W and joined EMB (formerly EWB). He has been involved with all areas of non-life insurance and gives regular training courses to insurance market practitioners on actuarial issues. He is also a frequent speaker at EMB seminars covering many topics including: personal lines reserving, actuarial reserving in the London Market, variability in actuarial reserves and large account pricing. Andy’s main areas of expertise are:
· Reserving for reinsurance, commercial lines and personal lines business
· Lloyd’s of London and the London Market
· Underwriter assistance and large account pricing models
· Management information and data system specification
In addition to his consultancy role, Andy has also been closely involved in the management side of EMB. In particular, he takes an active role in administration issues, marketing, staff training and has reporting person responsibilities for a number of staff. He is also involved in the general firm management and assists the partners in business planning at both a department and firm level.
