Duncan Anderson, MA FIA - Partner
Duncan graduated in mathematics from Cambridge University in 1990. He spent the following 16 years with consulting actuaries Watson Wyatt, working in non-life insurance from 1992. Prior to joining EMB, Duncan led Watson Wyatt's global non-life insurance activities.
Duncan has a particular interest in personal lines premium rating and related software, having specialised in these fields since qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1995. As well as working with companies in the UK, Duncan has a broad international experience having worked with clients and spoken in seminars in over 30 countries worldwide. His clients have included companies in most major multinational insurance groups.
Duncan has chaired or served on five Institute of Actuaries GIRO working parties relating to premium rating, and more recently chaired the Institute's "GRIP" taskforce which reviewed the role of the UK actuarial profession in general insurance pricing. He now sits on the Institute’s General Insurance Practice Executive Committee with responsibility for matters relating to pricing, including the implementation of GRIP's recommendations.
Duncan is a co-author of the paper "A Practitioner's Guide to Generalized Linear Models" which was published in the CAS 2004 Discussion Paper Program and is now on the CAS examination syllabus. He is also a frequent speaker at CAS seminars.
Duncan joined EMB Consultancy LLP as a partner in 2007.
