Biographies
Peter Lee FIA - Partner
 Peter Lee graduated in 1988 with a First Class Honours degree and an IMA prize for exceptional performance from Exeter University and qualified as an actuary in 1991. Peter has over fifteen years experience in non-life insurance.
Peter previously worked as a personal lines actuary at Allianz Cornhill before joining EMB in 1998 as a senior consultant. Whilst at EMB, Peter has worked for a large number of insurers throughout the world in different regulatory regimes, advising over a broad spectrum of areas ranging from claims reserving to pricing and the design of management information. Peter has been recently working on assignments that extend personal lines techniques to commercial insurance.
Peter’s particular expertise is pricing using multi-variate analyses and has been influential in EMBLEM’s development. He helped carry out the research underlying the influential paper “Statistical Motor Rating” published by the Institute of Actuaries in 1992 and co-authored “Using Generalized Linear Models to Build Dynamic Pricing Systems for Personal Lines Insurance” which was presented at the 2000 CAS Ratemaking Seminar in San Diego.

• Brockman, Murphy & Lee (2000). Using GLMs to Build Dynamic Pricing Systems. Written by three EMB partners, this paper explains how a dynamic pricing system can be built for personal lines business, whereby profit loads and risk premiums can be tailored to the individual behavioural characteristics of the customer.
