New Partner and New Directors Strengthen Top EMB Team
EMB, the international non-life actuarial consultancy, has made a series of promotions to their senior management team.
Richard Rodriguez, who leads the London office becomes a partner. Vikas Newatia (Managing Director of EMB India) and Andy Lingard (Director of EMB Software) are joined by Jonathan Broughton, Peter England, Steve Mathews, Richard Millns, Paul Murray and Andy Teale who have also been promoted to Director.
Although their core work with clients remains unchanged, the Directors will have greater responsibility for developing their own areas of the company.
“These promotions reflect the commitment and dynamism of the individuals concerned, but also EMB’s continued growth and the need to strengthen our management structure,” said Mike Brockman. “On behalf of all the partners, I would like to congratulate them on their well-deserved promotions.”
Richard Rodriguez joined EMB in 2002 and has led the London office since it was set up last year. He has worked extensively in the Lloyd’s and London market, working with commercial insurance and reinsurance clients on pricing, reserving and reinsurance allocation. He also has considerable experience of financial modelling.
Vikas Newatia set up EMB’s Indian operations last year. The firm now employs nine people at its Delhi office, serving the national market whilst also providing value-added services to EMB clients everywhere.
Andy Lingard became director of EMB software, the world's largest producer of non-life actuarial software, in 2004. He is a Chartered Engineer and holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Imperial College, London. He was previously part of the senior management team that successfully created a new telecoms software company.
Jonathan Broughton joined EMB’s London Market team in April 2005 from a senior position at Equitas, bringing 10 years of unique experience. He has participated in a number of Institute of Actuaries working parties.
Peter England joined EMB in 1999 after working as a manager at the Lloyd’s Market Risk Unit. He is a Chartered Statistician with a PhD in Actuarial Science, and has over 15 years' experience in statistical and financial modelling.
Steve Mathews is a London market specialist, who is widely recognised for his expertise in latent claims, commutations and run-offs. He is scheme actuary for solvent and insolvent schemes of arrangement and consults on reserve adequacy in the Lloyd's and Company markets.
Richard Millns specialises in financial modelling. His role includes the design, implementation and peer review of stochastic models. He joined EMB’s Cambridge office in 2001.
Paul Murray has over 15 years London Market experience, both as Group Actuary at a Lloyd’s managing agency and as a consultant. He specialises in work for Lloyd’s and for Schemes of Arrangement.
Andy Teale has been with EMB for eleven years. In addition to extensive client work covering all areas of non-life insurance, he has been closely involved in the management side of the firm.
