EMB Goes Live in Brazil

Consulting actuaries EMB have opened a branch in Brazil. EMB América Latina offers services to domestic insurers and to international companies with operations in the region.

The office in São Paulo is headed up by David Sommer, an American-qualified actuary who has lived and worked in the country since 1999. He has a team of five. Although their initial focus is mainly on Brazil, they have extensive knowledge of other Latin American markets.

“Brazil is highly competitive, with insurers sometimes changing their rating structures on a monthly basis. We see plenty of opportunity for our specialist skills and software in this environment, especially in pricing and financial modelling,” he said.

“We are delighted to extend our reach and ability to serve customers through our new Latin American office,” said EMB partner Karl Murphy.

Based in Epsom, near London, EMB has three offices in the UK, three in the United States plus offices in Germany, France, Australia, India, South Korea and South Africa.
