EMB Joins Forces with Scandinavian Actuarial Firm

EMB, Europe’s largest non-life actuarial consultancy, has purchased a share in AnalyseTjenester AS, a Scandinavian firm of actuaries. The company, whose headquarters are in Bergen, Norway, will trade as EMB Nordic.

“We are joining forces with some technically very capable new colleagues who share our commitment to the non-life industry,” said EMB director Andy Teale. “The combination of their local knowledge and presence in Scandinavia with our resources, including software, is a powerful one.”

Much of their work involves helping Scandinavian firms prepare for Solvency II, an area where EMB are market leaders.

“The new relationship gives us added weight and credibility, and access to a powerful suite of software tools,” said EMB Nordic director Ørjan Ådland

EMB Nordic also bring to the relationship groundbreaking knowledge of how to analyse claims data to spot potential insurance fraud. This work, which is still at an early stage of development, isolates indicators of fraud so that investigators know where to search.

EMB Nordic employs six consultants and, like its parent company, specialises in non-life insurance.
